PCN seals 498 drug stores in Plateau
Pharmacists Council of Nigeria (PCN) has sealed 498 drug stores across Plateau State. This was disclosed at a press conference in Jos, weekend, by the PCN director in charge of inspection and monitoring, Mrs. Anthonia Aruya.
The sealed business premises comprised 89 pharmacies and 409 Patent and Proprietary Medicine Vendors (PPMVs). However, six pharmacies were given compliance directives for various offences ranging from improper handling of controlled substances, unhygienic environment and poor documentation, as well as dispensing ethical prescription drugs without the presence of a pharmacist.
During its 30th routine inspection across the country, the PCN visited 711 premises comprising 184 pharmacies and 527 PPMVs in Plateau.According to Aruya, that exercise was the first phase of streamlining the distribution system in the state, adding that further action would follow in due course since the PCN was committed to full compliance to the national drug distribution policy.
