A professor of Law and the Abia State Peoples democratic Party (PDP) House of Representatives candidate for Isiala Ngwa North/Isiala South Federal Constituency in the February 25 presidential and National Assembly elections, Dr. Anthony Agbazuere, has vowed to challenge, in the election tribunal, Independent National Electoral Commission’s (INEC) declaration of his Labour Party rival, Ginger Onwusibe, as winner in the election in which he was declared first runner-up.
He told The Guardian, yesterday, that the said election was marred by irregularities for which INEC should have cancelled the election in line with Section 65 of the Electoral Act 2022, adding that despite that he filed a petition within 24 hours on Sunday, February 26, INEC has done nothing till date.
According to the professor, the elections were characterised by compromises on the part of INEC, Bimodal Voter Accreditation System (BVAS), snatching and disenfranchisement of majority of voters, mutilation of results, cases of over-voting, intimidation and violence.
