Concerned Northern Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Alliance has warned the Northern electorate not to support Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers State, as he plots to pick Sen. Nazif Gamawa as running mate in the 2023 presidential election.
In a statement, yesterday, the group accused Gamawa, former deputy national chairman of PDP, of floating different groups to canvass support for Wike.
The statement signed by the group’s Chairman, Salaman Maianguwa, noted that Gamawa’s antic of championing the support group for Wike was to butter his bread against Northern sentiments.
It added: “The senator, against all odds, formulated a group of dysfunctional status, organised a fake appeal fund to purchase presidential nomination and interest form of N40 million for Wike to contest the presidency under PDP.
“We, in the Northern PDP Concerned Group, believe that the project of Wike championed by Gamawa is a serious anti-North project and distance ourselves from it. We urge the PDP delegates from all over Nigeria to disregard this project, as it is aimed at causing distraction in our dear party, and to aid the success of the ruling party in the general election of 2023.”
