PDP tasks Buhari on amended Electoral Act



Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Edo State, Dr. Dan Orbih, has called on President Muhammadu Buhari to assent the amended Electoral Act.

With less than 82 days to the presidential election holding in February next year, Orbih after the conferment of an honorary doctorate in Political Science on him by the Igbinedion University in Okada, noted that the president’s earlier concerns had been addressed in the final bill.

The party chairman said there was an urgent need for Buhari to assent the piece of legislation to ease the work of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

He said: “These are not good signs for the forthcoming elections. I am disturbed by the silence of Nigerians over the continued delay by Buhari to sign the Electoral Act as amended and passed by the National Assembly.”
