The National Ex-Officio of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), South West Zone, Dr. Magdalene Adenike Coker, has predicted the restoration of the glory of the party, urging the members not to relent but to work together towards strengthening the party in the zone and country as a whole.
Coker, who spoke against the backdrop of her election at the recent South West Zonal Congress of the party, held in Ibadan, the Oyo State capital, described the exercise as the most amazing congress of the party in the zone she had ever witnessed. She noted that the unity and friendship displayed by the leaders and delegates during the exercise was historic.
“It’s a genuine generational history that can never be forgotten in Lagos State and in the South West of Nigeria,” she said. She stressed that the success of the congress was the beginning of a new dawn for the party.
Coker, who is the only female among the four people elected from Lagos, added: “I seize this moment to promise this family of PDP that we shall surely work in unity as shown on April 16 in Ibadan during the congress.
Our mission is to work together in peace and unity to bring the party’s glory back to our nation, God willing.
“Once more, I say a bigger thank you and congratulations to us in South West and to Lagos PDP. My heartfelt gratitude goes to everyone who supported us throughout the congress journey. Your trust, votes, and efforts made this victory possible. We’re honoured to serve and promise to work tirelessly for the betterment of our great party, community and nation.
“Special appreciation to our Executive Governors, Seyi Makinde (Oyo State) and Ademola Adeleke (Osun State) for their exemplary leadership in conducting the most successful zonal congress of the PDP in the Southwest.”
She also appreciated the Chairman of the Southwest Zonal Congress and former governor of Akwa Ibom State, Emmanuel Udom, for delivering a credible congress. “I now understand why he has been known and recognised as a great administrator,” Coker said.
