Permanent Secretary urges inter-agency collaboration for improved digital economy

The Permanent Secretary of the Federal Ministry of Communications, Innovation and Digital Economy, Engr. Nadungu Gagare, has called for stronger collaboration among agencies under the ministry to deepen Nigeria’s digital transformation and improve service delivery.

Gagare made the call in Abuja on Monday during his maiden tour of agencies supervised by the ministry, stressing that synergy among institutions was critical to achieving the Federal Government’s digital economy objectives and strengthening Nigeria’s global competitiveness.

 

Speaking during the visits, the Permanent Secretary urged the agencies to align policies, strengthen institutional cooperation and improve understanding of each other’s operations, achievements and challenges.

 

According to him, enhanced collaboration would help eliminate duplication of efforts while improving efficiency across the sector.

 

“We must continue to work with greater synergy, innovation, professionalism and accountability in delivering on our mandates,” Gagare said.

 

He noted that the digital economy remains central to Nigeria’s national growth strategy and economic future, adding that government institutions must work together to deliver technology-driven development.

 

The Permanent Secretary also charged workers across the agencies to remain disciplined, innovative and committed to the implementation of President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda.

 

He stressed that improved coordination among the institutions would accelerate digital inclusion, strengthen innovation and improve public sector service delivery nationwide.

 

Gagare further emphasized the need for agencies to collectively address operational challenges and leverage shared opportunities within the communications and digital economy ecosystem.

 

Responding on behalf of Nigerian Communications Satellite Limited, the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, Jane Nkechi Egerton-Idehen, expressed appreciation for the Permanent Secretary’s visit.

 

Represented by the General Manager, Information Technology at NigComSat, Engr. Baba Alkali, the MD described the visit as encouraging and reassuring to the management and staff of the organisation.

 

She said the engagement demonstrated the ministry’s commitment to supporting agencies under its supervision while strengthening institutional collaboration across the sector.

 

The agencies under the ministry include the Nigerian Communications Commission(NCC), National Information Technology Development Agency(NITDA), Nigerian Postal Service(NIPOST), Nigeria Data Protection Commission(NDPC), Nigerian Communications Satellite Limited(NigComSat )and Galaxy Backbone Limited.(GBB)

 

The tour forms part of ongoing efforts by the ministry to assess operations, improve coordination and drive the implementation of policies aimed at expanding Nigeria’s digital economy.
