Commendations have continued to pour in for the launch of a communication handbook book titled, “Communication and Media Studies: Multiple Perspectives” edited by Nigeria’s first female Professor, Prof. Chinyere Stella Okunna, Professor of Mass Communication at Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka and director of UNIZIK 94.1 FM Radio.

The event, which was attended by university scholars, media and communications professionals, captains of industries, prominent Nigerians as well as journalists held at the University’s auditorium. According to Okunna, the book is an archive of various perspectives of communication and media studies, which will shape and change the communication landscape around the world. While commending the editor who was his Chief of Staff and Commissioner for Economic Planning when he was governor of Anambra State, Peter Obi said Okunna has contributed immensely to the growth and development of the education system in the country and must be celebrated.

“Oil money used to be the major earner for Nigeria, but today the world is moving away from oil. The knowledge sector is now the money-earning industry. We have Okunna and her team doing research and writing books. We need more people with working ideas; productive people for Nigeria.”

Chief host of the event and Vice-Chancellor of Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Charles Esimone said they’re working to become one of the top 200 Universities in the world.
