Over 200 domestic workers at Lekki Phase 1 benefitted from the free medical and dental care sponsored by Pinefield Schools at the weekend. The exercise, organised to mark the school’s 10th anniversary, was also part of its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) to the community.

Some of the services included test on blood sugar level, blood pressure, body mass index, dental check-up and treatment among others.Health institutions represented at the event included: Afriglobal Medicare; Ancilla Catholic Hospital (optical), The Beaver Clinic; Aire Dental Clinic; TremenDoc and United Heart Hospital and Clinics.

The directress of the school, Morayo Fadipe, said the programme was targeted at the domestic staffs because they are low-income earners.Fadipe who expressed displeasure over the state of health care services in the country tasked the government to partner with private institutions to ensure that the country’s health services are improved.

She said the weakened Public Health Care (PHC) system with low coverage of key interventions has resulted in the persistence of high disease burden in the country. “Being able to access quality health care is an important aspect of health for all.”
