Plateau State Governor Simon Lalong has assured the people of adequate security throughout the Yuletide and the New Year festivities.

Plateau State Governor Simon Lalong has assured the people of adequate security throughout the Yuletide and the New Year festivities.

Lalong, who was represented by Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Prof. Danladi Atu, gave the assurance in his Christmas message to Christians at St. Paul’s Catholic Pastoral Church in Lamingo.

While celebrating with Christians on the birth of Jesus Christ, he said security had been beefed up in all parts of the state to ensure peaceful celebrations.

He urged the people to pray for divine protection and guidance for the leadership of the country and appealed to the citizens to be law-abiding and avoid acts of lawlessness, as those found culpable would be prosecuted.

Lalong also enjoined the citizens to collaborate with security agencies to avert any untoward activities before, during and after the festivities by those who are bent on causing crisis, mayhem and break down of law and order.

After the successful celebration of Christmas, the state Police Command said it had put in security measures to ensure that there was no crime before and after the New Year.

A statement issued yesterday by the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), DSP Matthias Terna Tyopev, disclosed that the command has repositioned its patrol vehicles in strategic locations to respond promptly to distress calls from members of the public day and night.

The statement advised citizens to be security cautious and avoid patronizing unauthorized areas to avoid being victims of accidents, kidnapping and armed robbery.

It also advised citizens to be cautious during Church activities and other outing with families and also to keep their houses in check.
