Police AIG stresses need for synergized community policing
To achieve the objective for which Police Community Relations Committee (PCRC) was created, the new Assistant Inspector General of Police (AIG) for Zone 9 Command, Mr. Hosea Karma, has urged the PCRC Chapters in the zone comprising Abia, Imo, Enugu and Anambra states to work in synergy with selves and the Command.
PCRC aka ‘community policing’ is said to be one of the veritable tools adopted by the Police in crime fighting and prevention and “connotes a proactive philosophy anchored on a symbiotic relationship between the police and the community”.
Karma, who was recently elevated to the AIG rank said this when the Zone’s PCRC executives and some of its top members led by its Chairman, Dr Ugochukwu Obi, interacted with him and formally welcomed him to the zone at Umuahia, Abia state.
The AIG said that it is only when the PCRC chapters work harmoniously in synergy that they would effectively be assisting the Police to perform optimally in crime prevention, detection and control.
