Chairman of Oyo State National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS), Asubiojo Olajuwon, has been detained at the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), Iyaganku, Ibadan.

Olajuwon was said to have been arrested inside the premises of Federal Co-operative College, Eleiyele, at the weekend while holding meeting with other executive members of the association.

One of his aides, who spoke with The Guardian, alleged that some people, who claimed to be close to Governor Seyi Makinde, led police to the school where he was holding meeting and was subsequently arrested.

“He felt that he had no skeleton in his cupboard and follow them only for them to tell him that he would not be released if certain conditions are not met.

“That Saturday night, we tried our best but we could not meet the condition. On Sunday, they wasted our time. We are here again now. He has spent two nights here. We don’t even know what his offences are,” the aide said.

The State Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Olugbenga Fadeyi, who confirmed the arrest, said a petition was written and being investigated by CID to unravel the issue.
