Police arrest eight suspects over weapons, illicit drugs in Adamawa

The Adamawa state police command has arrested eight suspects in connection with alleged criminal conspiracy, unlawful possession of dangerous weapons, and the sale and consumption of banned substances in Yola, the state capital.

The arrests followed a coordinated operation carried out by police operatives based on credible intelligence as part of the command’s ongoing efforts to combat crime and criminality across the state.

According to a statement issued on Monday by the Police Public Relations Officer, Suleiman Yahaya Nguroje, the suspects were apprehended during a targeted operation aimed at dismantling a suspected “Shilla” criminal network and preventing violent crimes within the state.

The suspects were identified as Bawuro Mohammad, 23; Hamza Hassan, 18; Aliyu Abubakar, 20; Alfa Abubakar, 22; Fahat Hamma, 20; Dahiru Usman, 20; Ibrahim Samaila, 22; and Jefe Jostine, 25. All are residents of various communities in Shagari, Yolde Pate, and Wuro Hausa areas of Yola South local government council.

Police said dangerous weapons and suspected banned substances believed to be linked to the unlawful activities of the suspects were recovered during the operation.

The Commissioner of Police inthe state, Kabir Umar Hassan, directed a thorough investigation into the case and assured the public that all individuals found culpable would be prosecuted in accordance with the law.

He reaffirmed the command’s commitment to safeguarding lives and property across the state and warned criminal elements to desist from unlawful activities or face decisive police action.

The police command described the operation as another significant success in its sustained campaign against criminal activities in Adamawa State.
