Police arrest Qur’anic teacher over alleged rape of five-year-old girl in Gombe
The Police in Gombe State have arrested a 26-year-old Qur’anic teacher, Bilyaminu Halilu, for allegedly raping a five-year-old girl, who was his student.
According to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), Halilu, a teacher at Raudatul Qur’anic Primary and Secondary School By-pass Gombe, took the girl to his office, laid her on the table and had unlawful carnal of her.
The state Commissioner of Police, Mohammed Mukaddas, told newsmen in Gombe, yesterday, that the suspect was arrested on November 1.
He said the mother of the girl noticed blood in her private part while bathing her in the evening the same day and when asked what happened, told her mother that the teacher was responsible.
The commissioner said the teacher was arrested and he confessed to the crime and would soon be arraigned in court.
