Police arrest suspected bandit with AK47 in Kaduna

The Command’s Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), ASP Muhammed Jalige, in a statement, he released on behalf of the Police Commissioner, Umar Muri, said the suspect identified as Bello Abubakar, was arrested during a shoot out.

He said his other gang members were at large, but the suspect had already volunteered useful information they might lead to their arrest.

Jalige said: “Operatives of the Kaduna Police Command on June 18, 2021 at about 0745hrs, while on routine patrol along Kudaru forest in Saminaka, Lere Local Council of Kaduna State intercepted a Volkswagen vehicle (Golf) green in colour with Reg. No. KAG 142 AA heading towards Kaduna.

“They noticed its occupants’ suspicious disposition and flagged them down. They parked a distance away and took to their heels into the forest. Policemen engaged them in a shoot-out and succeeded in apprehending one Bello Abubakar ‘male’ and when the vehicle was searched, an AK47 rifle was found concealed in a bid to escape the security forces along the route…”

“The suspect is currently undergoing thorough investigation and is giving useful information to the Police, while concerted effort is ongoing with the view to apprehending the fleeing members of the gang to face the full wrath of the law.”
