The police in Ogun State have arrested three notorious cultists belonging to the Eiye Confraternity.
The arrest, The Guardian learnt, followed credible information provided by an anonymous citizen to the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) of Sango Ota, Chief Superintendent of Police (CSP), Saleh Dahiru, who led his anti-robbery team to School 3 in Joju, Sango Ota.

It was at this location that the suspects, Dakwo Michael Jackson, Joel Obieva and Oluwaseun Bamideke were caught planning their illegal activities.

Confirming the development, spokesperson for Ogun State Police Command, Superintendent of Police (SP) Omolola Odutola, said during questioning, the suspects confessed that they were part of a larger gang of Eiye confraternity, comprising five members, with their leader still at large.

“Their intention was to meet at the school before carrying out their planned operation. However, thanks to the swift action of the Sango Division police, they were apprehended before they could execute their nefarious plans.

“The police are currently making efforts to track down the remaining suspects who managed to escape arrest.
“Once the investigation conducted by the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCIID) is completed, the suspects in custody would be charged and brought before the court to face justice,” Odutola added.

Meanwhile, two security men have been arrested for bursting the right eye of a man over misunderstanding in Ogun State.The unfortunate incident happened on September 2, in the Sango Ota area of the state.
According to police source, one Abiodun Fatai reported that his younger brother, Ramon Rasaq, was involved in a heated altercation with security men on their street.

The Guardian learnt that the quarrel ensued when Rasaq opened the gate himself and went in as the two security men, Michael Adelayo and Ganiyu Saka were not at their duty post at the time he got to the gate, which angered the men.

This led to a quarrel, and during the escalating scuffle, one of the security men, Saka shot Rasaq in his eyes.
Following the incident, the victim was rushed to a traditional healer who successfully removed seven pellets from his right eye.

“The Divisional Police Officer of Sango Ota, Chief Superintendent of Police (CSP), Saleh Dahiru, provided the necessary medical forms for Rasaq to be transferred to Lagos State University Teaching Hospital (LASUTH), Ikeja .

“At the hospital, he received immediate medical attention to stabilise his condition. Although he unfortunately lost his right eye, the doctor on duty assured that the victim is currently responding positively to treatment,” the source added.

Meanwhile, the state’s Commissioner of Police (CP), Abiodun Alamutu, has directed that the suspects be transferred to SCID for further investigation and possible prosecution.
