The Police Service Commission (PSC) has announced the promotion of 1,670 senior officers to the next rank and acceded to the request to elevate 147 other senior officers to acting capacity.

The Police Service Commission (PSC) has announced the promotion of 1,670 senior officers to the next rank and acceded to the request to elevate 147 other senior officers to acting capacity, pending approval for their substantive endorsement or available vacancies.

These facts were contained in a statement issued yesterday by the Head, Press and Public Relations of the Commission; Ikechukwu Ani, which disclosed that the chairman of the commission, Mike Okiro, conveyed the decision to the Inspector General of Police (IGP), last Friday.

Those promoted, the statement indicated, include, one Commissioner of Police (CP), who is elevated to be Assistant Inspector General of Police (AIG), 10 Assistant Commissioners of Police (ACP) to Deputy Commissioners of Police (DCP), five (5) Chief superintendents of Police (CSP) to ACPs and Six (6) Superintendents of Police (sp) to CSP.
