Police detonate explosive at Abolongo correctional centre
The Oyo State Police Command, yesterday, said that it detonated another explosive at the Abolongo Correctional Centre in Oyo.
This is coming four days after gunmen attacked the centre, which led to the escape of several inmates.
Public Relations Officer of the state correctional centre, Olanrewaju Anjorin, who confirmed this, said the explosive was detonated by police without any casualty.
He said: “It was true. The police detonated the bomb after the officers of the correctional centre discovered that there was explosive planted outside the facility.”
It was gathered that the police detonated the explosive at about 2:00 p.m. outside the facility but recorded no casualty.
The explosive must have been one of the bombs planted by those who attacked the centre on Friday night.
