Police engage bandits, rescue 17-year-old in Kaduna
The Kaduna State Police Command has, again, exchanged fire with a gang of bandits and rescued a 17- year-old victim in the process.
The force, in a statement yesterday, said on December 4, at about 2:00p.m., its operatives during a routine patrol around Sabon Birnin Daji Forest, heard sporadic gunshots from the axis and decided to comb the area.
Police spokesman, ASP Mohammed Jalige, said: “While on the mission, the operatives stormed a kidnappers’ den where a fierce exchange of fire ensued, resulting in the rescue of one Sani Adamu, a 17-year-old.
He added: “The victim was immediately taken to Kutungare primary health care centre for medical attention.
“Preliminary investigation revealed that the victim was abducted while working on a rice farm around Afaka village in Kaduna.
“Effort is, however, being intensified to ensure that the vicinity is thoroughly combed for a possible rescue of more victims, if any, and rid the area of these criminal elements.”
The spokesman further said: “The command is calling on the public not to be deterred by these isolated incidents and to report any kidnap incident recorded within their areas so that the authorities would act promptly.”
