Police nab man with fresh human head in Ondo, sanction five officers in Delta

Ondo State Police Command has arrested a  middle- aged man and self-acclaimed cleric, Alfa Tunde Olayiwola, for being in possession of a fresh human head, delivered to him by some unknown persons for money rituals.

The new Commissioner of Police, Oyeyemi Oyediran, who paraded the suspected ritualist alongside other suspects in Akure, yesterday, affirmed that the police is set to rid the state of crime.

Oyediran said: “On December 23 at about 0920hrs, the police received information that a self -acclaimed cleric named Alfa Tunde Olayiwola ‘m’ a suspected ritualist was about to receive a consignment suspected to be a human head.

“The police immediately swung into action and the cleric was apprehended at Ajagbale Area of Oka, Ondo town. A fresh human head was found in his custody.
“He confessed that the head found in his possession was to be used to ensure he had a better life,” he said.

The police boss also disclosed that two cult members terrorising Okitipupa Local Government Area in recent times were also apprehended by the police.

He listed them as Mathew Thankgod aged,18 years, and Olabokunde Michael, aged 20 years, revealing that they were arrested in their hide out.

“They led the police to one Olayeye Segun Aged 25 years who is a blacksmith who produced and supplies them with arms with which they operate. A cut to size single made English barrel was recovered from the suspects.”

MEANWHILE . Delta State Command has sanctioned five  officers attached to the Rapid Response Squad (RRS), who allegedly assaulted a civilian along the Asaba-Onitsha expressway.

The State Police Public Relation Officer, DSP Bright Edafe,  who confirmed this , yesterday in Asaba, said  they were found guilty of the assault after orderly room trial, which spanned about six months.

Edafe , who did not disclose the ranks of the Policemen, said the deviant Officers confessed to their wrong doing against the young man as they were shown “The video that captured the scene. He said the  Command vehemently condemned the action of the policemen.

According to them, the incident occurred about four months ago, and immediately it was brought to the knowledge of the Command, the Commissioner of Police, Muhammed Ali, directed the incident be looked into, which has since been done and the erring policemen indeed were found guilty of the assault and were subjected to internal disciplinary mechanism after which they were adequately sanctioned.

He added that the CP condemned the conduct of the officers but urged members of the public to remain calm and assured of the Command’s commitment to dealing with any officer who disregards the human right of any person.

The Police Spokesman also  said  operatives attached to Eagle-net special squad while on routine stop and search along Ughelli/Warri road, intercepted a motorcycle with two male occupants, and on sighting the Police, the passenger alighted from the motorcycle and ran into a nearby bush.

He said he was given a hot chase and the unrelenting efforts of the Police  led to the arrest of the suspect named Mamus Obine aged 18 years from Agbarho in Ughelli North Council of the state.

He said: “Upon searching the bag the suspect  was carrying,  one locally made double barrel pistol and 10 live cartridges were recovered. Through preliminary investigation carried out by the Police, it was discovered that the suspect operate with two other suspects namely Austin and Thankgod ( both surnames unknown).“

He explained that the suspect had confessed that he was after one Kingsley, with whom he had issues of money sharing after he defrauded his victim of the sum of Eight Hundred thousand naira (N800,000) from internet fraud and that he was about going to attack the said Kingsley with the gun when the police intercepted and arrested him.
