Police nab seven suspected kidnappers in Ondo

In a bid to rid Ondo State of insecurity, a combined team of security agencies, code-named: “Operation Crime Free,” has arrested seven suspected kidnappers, armed with several arms and ammunition.

In a bid to rid Ondo State of insecurity, a combined team of security agencies, code-named: “Operation Crime Free,” has arrested seven suspected kidnappers, armed with several arms and ammunition.

While parading the suspects yesterday at the state police headquarters, the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Mr. Femi Joseph, and spokesman of the 32 Artillery Brigade, Mr. Ojo Adenegan, said they were arrested at Emure junction in Owo Local Government Area of the state.

They revealed that the suspects were arrested at about 3:00a.m. on Wednesday by the team following a tip-off. He disclosed that the suspects who claimed to be coming from Kebbi State were nabbed when they could not give satisfactory account of their movements.

The PPRO added that 16 locally-made guns, 17 cutlasses, 13 knives, seven handsets and a sum of N27,820 were recovered from the suspects. “We also found some food items and pieces of clothing and items suspected to be charms.”
