The police in Anambra State have announced the death of one of its officers, Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP), Anthony Ogbodo, in a motor accident.

Spokesperson for Anambra State Police Command, Tochukwu Ikenga, in a statement, yesterday, said the accident involved the deceased officer’s motorcycle and a shuttle bus last Saturday.

Ikenga said the driver of the shuttle bus, who knocked down the officer, immediately conveyed him to the hospital at Enugwu Ukwu where he eventually died.

“The driver has been arrested and taken into custody, while the remote and immediate causes of the accident are being investigated.

“This is to debunk insinuations on social media that the officer died of different causes.

“The Command mourns the passing of the Officer and wishes to condole his family and loved ones on his tragic demise.

“The Commissioner of Police (CP), Aderemi Adeoye, has assured that justice would be speedily dispensed in the case,” Ikenga said.
