Police parade 13 suspects over pipeline vandalism

The Police have paraded 13 suspects who specialise in vandalising oil pipelines and stealing crude oil across the country.

Some of the suspects paraded, the police said, were arrested at different locations in Kaduna, Niger and Delta states and they confessed to committing the crime.

The suspects include: Isa Ibrahim; Sani Usman; Hosea Danjuma; Aminu Salisu; Umar Abubakar; Aminu Muhammed and Ismaila Jimoh.

Others are: Musa Mohammed; Abubakar Usman; Lucky David; Shagari Abiakeshi; Lucky Ajanasi of Ubeji Community and Destiny Amakeri.

Parading the suspects yesterday in Abuja, Force Public Relations Officer, Jimoh Moshood, said they were arrested after an intense trail by the operatives of the Special Task Force on Petroleum Illegal Bunkering (STFPIB) on May 1, 2018 in their hideout in Kaduna State.

He said the suspects confessed to have vandalised crude oil pipeline near Kakau Village in Kaduna State on April 26, 2018 and in the process siphoned 11,400 litres of crude oil, which they sold at N580,000 to their sponsors.

Moshood, an Assistant Commissioner of Police (ASP), also stated that on April 27, 2018, the STFPIB surveillance patrol team acting on a tip-off, intercepted and arrested: Umar Abubakar, Aminu muhammed, Ismaila Jimoh, Oni Ajibade, Musa Mohammed, Abubakar Usman while in the process of breaking the NNPC pipeline around Bonu village in Niger State.

Items recovered from them include one Mercedes Benz Actross 3335 Tanker Truck marked KJA 373 XN; One Peugeot 407 Saloon car marked ABJ 37 BK; One Yamaha Forty Horse Power speed Boat; 26) cans of 25 litres containing Premium Motor Spirit (PMS) product suspected to be from WRPC/PPMC.

Others are: Welding Machine; Drilling Machine; Valves; Vandalism tools; Electric drilling machine; Four (4) drilling kits; Tiger electric Generator; Twenty One (21) pieces of welding electrodes; Two (2) Shifting Spanner; One (1) Flat Spanner; Two (2) Puncturing Rod; One (1) and Half length Hose; Two (2) Saw Blades; Electric wires and One (1) Loading Arm.
