Police arrest suspect over abduction of three in Adamawa

The Adamawa state police command has arrested a suspected kidnapper in connection with the abduction of three persons in Hullere Gwalamba, Yola North local government council of the state.

The suspect, identified as Alhaji Adamu Yahaya, a resident of Hosere Jambutu in Yola North LGA, was arrested following an intelligence-driven operation launched by the Command.

Police spokesman, Suleiman Yahaya Nguroje, disclosed in a statement issued on Thursday that the incident was reported to the State Intelligence Department (SID) on June 16, 2026, by Samaila Musa of Hullere Gwalamba.

According to the complainant, the victims—Adamu Samaila Sultan, 24, Bilal Abdurrahman, 8, and Ya’u Sani Baba Iyali, 10—were kidnapped on June 12 and taken to an unknown destination.

Nguroje said the kidnappers subsequently contacted the family and demanded a ransom for the release of the victims.

Following the report, the Commissioner of Police, Kabir Umar Hassan, ordered a discreet investigation and directed operatives to deploy intelligence and technical assets to track down those behind the crime.

The police said the operation led to the arrest of one suspect, who is currently assisting investigators with information aimed at identifying and apprehending other members of the kidnapping syndicate.

“The suspect is providing useful information that will assist in the arrest of other members of the kidnapping syndicate,” the statement said.

The Command noted that investigations are ongoing and assured that the suspect would be prosecuted upon the conclusion of the investigation.

Police authorities also pledged to keep the public informed as efforts continue to rescue the victims and bring all those involved in the crime to justice.
