It was a gathering a members of the nursing profession on Friday as family and friends joined the Head of Department (HOD), Nursing Service, University of Benin Teaching Hospital (UBTH), Mrs Eunice Ameachi Osian, to celebrate after 35 years of meritorious service at the tertiary healthcare facility.

An elated Osian, fondly called ‘Mother of All Nurses’ by her colleagues in the hospital, expressed appreciation to all and sundry for the honour, which coincided with her 60th birthday celebration.

The hospital’s management team led by the Chief Medical Director, Prof. Darlington Obaseki, joined in the celebration and extolled Osian for her outstanding contributions to the nursing profession.

Obaseki said Osian contributed her quota to the service of the hospital and humanity. He also lauded the role of nurses in the healthcare sector, saying they are the most important in healthcare delivery.

Osian’s colleagues also described her as a committed member of staff of the hospital.

Until her retirement, Osian was the Deputy Director, Nursing Service, (DDNS) at the UBTH.
