President salutes Oladipo Diya at 75
President Muhammadu Buhari has saluted former Chief of General Staff (CGS), Lt.-Gen. Oladipo Diya (rtd), as he celebrates his 75th birthday today.
He acknowledged the ex-military governor of Ogun State’s many years of meritorious service to the nation.
In a statement by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Femi Adesina, the president also felicitated with the celebrant’s family members, friends, professional colleagues and associates.
Buhari recalled Diya’s military career that saw him successfully handling sensitive and strategic leadership positions as General Officer Commanding (GOC) 82 Division, Commandant, National War College and Chief of Defence Staff (CDS).
He affirmed that the Odogbolu indigene’s gallantry, rich intellectual background and penchant for research contributed to the structure and operations of the Nigerian Army, especially in tackling security challenges within the country and the West Coast region.
On the auspicious occasion, the Nigerian leader admitted that the nation had benefitted from the general’s wealth of knowledge, wisdom and experience, urging him to stay relevant by providing counsel to military formations and officers.
