The Primate of the Church of Nigeria (Anglican Communion), Most Rev. Henry Ndukuba, has described the late former Bishop of the Diocese of Lagos West, Rt. Revd. (Dr.) Peter Awelewa Adebiyi, as a man whose life positively imparted many people.

Ndukuba, who stated this at the commendation/farewell service held at the Archbishop Vining Memorial Cathedral in Ikeja, GRA, Lagos, in honour of the late pioneer Bishop of the Diocese of Lagos West, who died on February 10, 2022, said the late bishop served the purpose of God in his generation and even in the House of Bishops.

IN the same vein, Bishop of Remo Diocese, Most Rev. Dr. Michael Fape, described Adebiyi as a mentor and a man who would call a spade a spade.

He said: “Baba was just a man of integrity, a voice for the voiceless, confident and bold. He was not afraid to tell the truth. Baba Adebiyi stood for the truth. We thank God that he used the gift God gave him to serve the church and humanity.”

ALSO, the Diocesan Bishop of Lagos West, Rt. Rev. (Dr.) James Olusola Odedeji, described the late Adebiyi as a kindhearted person, compassionate and generous to a fault.

“We thank God for his life; he was a kindhearted person, compassionate and generous to a fault. He wished everybody well and appreciated people’s effort, He was never proud. He impacted so many souls and assisted many to grow. What we can learn from his life is his humility, forgiveness and encouragement,” he said.

MEANWHILE, Adebiyi’s first son, Adeboye, who spoke with The Guardian about his late father, said: “My father was a complete man, who lived and fulfilled his role as a father. Baba Adebiyi was a man that loved his family, the church and he devoted his entire life to the service of God and mankind. We are very grateful to God for the legacy that he left behind.”
