The All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate for Ogbomoso North State Constituency Shittu Abdulfatah, has pledged to establish an education fund and introduce targeted support for the girl-child as part of his four-point agenda for the constituency if elected in 2027.

Shittu, while unveiling his development agenda, said the proposed Omo Abẹ́de Education Fund would provide scholarships and bursaries for indigent students from Ogbomoso North studying in universities, polytechnics and colleges of education.

He also promised to support SS3 students preparing for the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) and West African Examinations Council (WAEC) examinations through free registration and tutorial programmes.

Under his girl-child initiative, Abdulfatah said additional educational support, free sanitary pads and mentorship would be provided to help girls remain in school and excel academically.

He pledged to partner with relevant stakeholders to renovate classrooms and provide learning materials in public schools across the constituency.

According to him, the education plan is built around the principle of “No Child Left Behind,” ensuring that poverty does not prevent children from accessing quality education.

The education programme forms part of Abdulfatah four-point agenda, which also focuses on healthcare, sports and youth development, as well as constituency empowerment and welfare.

On healthcare, he promised free medical check-ups and subsidised drugs for residents aged 60 and above, alongside support for pregnant women and children aged between zero and five years.

He pledged to support the upgrade of Primary Healthcare Centres across the wards with essential drugs and basic medical equipment, as well as organise regular free medical outreaches.

For youth development, Abdulfatah proposed a football academy that would combine 60 per cent football training with 40 per cent academics, alongside annual inter-ward tournaments and support for grassroots teams.

He said the initiative would ensure that young people pursuing football do not abandon their education.

The fourth plank of the agenda focuses on economic empowerment, with proposed support for market women, traders, farmers, artisans, youths, widows and other vulnerable residents through grants, skills acquisition, tools, agricultural inputs and other interventions.

Abdulfatah said his vision was to ensure that representation translates into tangible benefits for residents across Ogbomoso North.
