Probe Bauchi ex-governor or risk legal action, group tells EFCC
Coalition Against Financial Crimes and Injustice (CAFCI) has threatened to sue the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) for its failure to investigate immediate past Governor of Bauchi State, Mohammed Abdullahi Abubakar.
It stressed that it would take legal action against the commission if it fails to commence investigation and prosecution of the former governor within the next two weeks.
Chairman of the group, Dogo Bibi said yesterday in Bauchi that it had written several petitions to the commission on various alleged corrupt practices against Abubakar, but in spite of acknowledging the petitions, it had remained silent on them.
He said some of the petitions the group filed included the N4 billion the governor took without approval of the State House of Assembly, alleged fraudulent act in fertilizer, Hajj operations and awarding several contracts without due process.
Bibi also urged Governor Mohammed Bala Abdulkadir to investigate and recover all looted government funds and assets.
