High tension construction for electricity transmission

Contrary to claims in some quarters that there is a shortage, the Chief Executive Officer. Momas System, Engr. Kola Balogun, has said there are enough of pre-paid meters in country to satisfy the needs of consumers, noting that the problem associated with industry is lack of liquidity.

Speaking in Lagos, he disclosed that injection of capital will stimulate the growth of the industry and thus provide robust activities for the manufacturers to make prepaid meters available for the consumers.

“There is no scarcity of prepaid meters in the country but what is scarce is the liquidity and that is what is responsible for its limited supply.

Balogun noted that it was the responsibility of electricity distribution companies (discos) to provide meters for consumers because some elements of metering have been embedded in the tariff to procure meters for the users. But he noted that such amount was not sufficient to buy meters at an instance.

He pointed out that base on the increase complaints by the consumers, the House of Representatives is promoting an act that will end the use of estimated billing.
