PSC approves promotion of 239 police officers

Police Service Commission (PSC) has approved the elevation of 239 senior police officers and ratified the promotion of 7,981 inspectors.

Police Service Commission (PSC) has approved the elevation of 239 senior police officers and ratified the promotion of 7,981 inspectors.

The promoted officers include two commissioners of police (CPs), who were elevated to the rank of assistant inspectors-general of police (AIGs) and 10 assistant commissioners of police (ACP) promoted to deputy commissioners of police (DCP).

According to PSC spokesman, Ikechukwu Ani, 12 superintendents of police (SPs) were promoted to chief superintendents of police (CSPs), 76 deputy superintendents of police (DSPs) promoted to SPs and 139 assistant superintendents of police (ASPs) promoted to DSPs.

“The commission also ratified the promotion of 7,981 inspectors, products of the last Departmental Selection Board (DSB), to the next rank of ASP.

“The promotions were part of the decisions of the Second Plenary Meeting of the Commission held in Wudil, Kano, and presided over by the commission’s chairman, Musiliu Smith, a retired inspector-general of police (IGP).

“CP Peter Babatunde Ogunyawo and CP Mohammed Hussein were promoted to AIGs, while Eusuong James, Ogundele Ayodeji, Abdullahi Shehu, Ajala Ayoola, Ohikere Idris, Alfa Jibrin, Romokere Ibiani, Francis Bissong, Akika Augustine and Peter Wagbara (former ACP, Operations, Delta State Command) were promoted to DCPs.”
