Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF) and Chairman, Presidential Task Force (PTF) on COVID-19, Boss Mustapha, has announced plans to establish a testing laboratory at the State House Clinic, Abuja.

Speaking at the commissioning of State House Clinic Special Care Centre (COVID-19 Isolation Centre), Mustapha said the administration was using the challenges posed by the pandemic to change the country’s health infrastructure.

He commended President Muhammadu Buhari for approving funds for new health infrastructure, noting that through the PTF, the 2021 budget made provisions for the establishment of at least one oxygen production plant in all states of the Federation, and a 10-bed Intensive Care Unit (ICU) facility.

“From two molecular laboratories for the testing of COVID-19 in Nigeria, we now have over 100 public and private molecular laboratories in the 36 states of the Federation,” he said.
