PTI grooms student union leaders for excellence

The Petroleum Training Institute (PTI) has launched a leadership empowerment initiative specifically designed for the newly elected Students Union Government (SUG) officials.

The programme aims to enhance their leadership capabilities, preparing them for influential roles both nationally and globally.

According to the Institute, by investing in the development of these young leaders, it is fostering a generation of empowered and skilled individuals who will make a positive impact in their communities and beyond.

In his remarks at the training programme in Abuja, the Principal of the PTI, Dr. Samuel Onoji, said the training became necessary for the new SUG officials so they could be equipped with the necessary skills and knowledge to provide leadership to students and the PTI community in general.

He encouraged the participants to take advantage of the three-day leadership empowerment workshop to improve on what they have, reminding them that the responsibilities of leadership in the school and the community are on their shoulders. He stressed that they are expected to be exemplary in their actions, utterances, appearance, behaviours, and every other aspect associated with leadership.

In his submission, the Principal Partner of Star Trust Consulting, Chinonso Obasi, expressed appreciation to the participants for their peaceful conduct and maximum concentration and participation throughout the training and challenged them to freely share the knowledge and skills acquired as a mark of leadership.

Also, Hannah Chinonso, the Managing Partner of Star Trust Consulting, in her remarks, charged the participants to endeavour to put into practice all they learned during the training. “We hope to see every one of you again as a transformed global leader,” she said.

Meanwhile, the SUG President, Efedjarho Herbert, described the leadership training as a turning moment for the newly elected SUG Executives, stressing that the training was centred on leadership fundamentals, effective communication, personal branding, and conflict resolution in student unionism.
