Re-introduced monthly sanitation holds in Borno today

The monthly environmental sanitation exercise re-introduced by the Borno State Government commences today over two decades after it was scrapped.

Addressing journalists yesterday at news a conference in Maiduguri, the state capital, Commissioner for Environment, Alhaji Kabiru Wanori, said the exercise, which is to keep the environment clean and improve people’s safety and living condition is in line with policy thrust of the Governor Babagana Zulum administration.

He, therefore, called on security agencies to support and participate in the exercise, so that households clean up their nearest environment, as government cannot do it alone.

He urged traditional rulers to actively support and participates in the monthly sanitation exercise, explaining that there would be restrictions of vehicular movements from 7am to 10am today, with the exception of persons on essential duties.
