From the House of Representatives came assurances that it would put in place measures aimed at wooing investors from Switzerland into the country.

Rep Ambaiowei Rodney Ebikebina who chairs the Nigeria Switzerland friendship group in the House made this known when met with the Deputy Switzerland Ambassador to Nigeria, Mr Lukas Schifferle at the national Assembly complex in Abuja.

Ebikebina, representing the Southern Ijaw federal constituency of Bayelsa State, expressed the readiness of the House of Representatives to put in place relevant legislation to achieve the objective.

The lawmaker reiterated the resolve of the National Assembly to sustain the cordial relationship with their counterpart from Switzerland.

“Apart from that, Nigerians and Switzerland have been friends for quite some decades and there has also been business relationship between the citizens of both countries. We have a lot of business activities with the Swiss in Lagos,” he said.

“We also want to look at areas where legislations are not too friendly to the Switzerland businessmen in this country. Where we need to assist them through legislation, we will assist them so that Switzerland businesses in this country can thrive well.

“Another area is to see how we create a kind of bilateral relationship between both countries through the parliament, ideas we need to get from Switzerland so that we get them to foster the economic growth of the country.

“We realize a lot of opportunities that have been lagging behind that are open to Nigerians. You can see that that friendship group is achieving the desired results.”
