As the race for the Speakership of the House of Representatives gathers steam, a leading aspirant, Mr Yusuf Gagdi has canvassed the support of his colleagues of the Labour Party (LP) in the lower legislative chamber.

The meeting, which was held in Abuja is a follow-up to interactions with leaders of the party at national and state levels.

LP which boasts of six senatorial seats and 34 in the House of Representatives in the just concluded federal legislative elections, is the third most popular party in the 10th National Assembly.

The Plateau state-born lawmaker who chairs the House Committee on the Navy has been consulting widely across party lines to build a national governing coalition that reflects the composition of the House of Representatives.

The latest meeting is one of the many consultative parleys being convened by the lawmaker with members of the House elected across various political parties.

Engagements between Gagdi, stakeholders and members-elect are ongoing, as the nation awaits the decision of the All Progressives Congress (APC) on the zoning of National Assembly positions.
