Residents of Ojongbodu and neighbouring communities in Oyo Township have commended Oyo State Governor, Engr. Seyi Makinde, for the successful completion of the first phase of the reconstruction of the Ladindin–Iseke–Ojongbodu–Jagun–Olokomeje Road, describing the project as a major infrastructural intervention that has transformed the area.
The commendation was conveyed in a letter of appreciation jointly signed by the Olodu of Ojongbodu, Oba Olaniyi Adeoye Adegboye III, and members of the community.
The monarch said the reconstructed road is one of the most significant development projects undertaken in the community in decades, noting that it has improved transportation, enhanced the environment and stimulated economic activities across the affected communities.
According to him, the road serves as a strategic link connecting Ladindin, Iseke, Ojongbodu, Jagun and Olokomeje communities, making movement easier for residents, commuters and businesses.
“We sincerely appreciate Governor Seyi Makinde for fulfilling his promise to reconstruct our major access road. The project has not only improved mobility but has also given our community a new lease of life,” Oba Adegboye said.
The traditional ruler recalled that the road was last tarred during his childhood when his father served as the Baale of Ojongbodu, adding that the current reconstruction represents the most comprehensive rehabilitation of the road in many years.
He also acknowledged the contributions of former Senator representing Oyo Central, Monsurat Olajumoke Sunmonu; the Executive Chairman of Oyo West Local Government, Akeem Babatunde Salami (Olukitibi); and other stakeholders for facilitating the execution of the project.
Oba Adegboye further commended the contractor, Quickborn Nigeria Limited, for delivering what he described as a quality project executed to modern engineering standards.
Speaking on behalf of residents, Busari Ismail Bolanle of Ladindin-Ekewa Compound said the road reconstruction had restored hope to the communities after decades of neglect.
He noted that the project has eased transportation, improved accessibility and stimulated commercial activities, while commending the Makinde administration and the contractor for delivering durable infrastructure.
Also, Sulaimon Shittu of Ayekisorun Compound, Apena, Iseke, described Makinde as a leader who keeps his promises.
He also expressed appreciation to Sunmonu and other stakeholders for supporting the project, noting that the reconstructed road has improved the movement of people and goods while boosting local businesses.
Another resident, Bolanle Mojeed Agbaje of Ile Baale, Ojongbodu, lauded Makinde, Salami, Sunmonu and the Chief of Staff to the Oyo West Local Government chairman for responding to the community’s long-standing appeal.
Agbaje described the reconstruction as the most impactful infrastructure project ever executed in the area by any administration, highlighting the quality of the drainage systems, culverts and asphalt pavement.
The residents unanimously described the project as a major boost to the socio-economic development of Ojongbodu and adjoining communities, while expressing optimism that the remaining phases of the road project would be completed by the state government.
