Restructuring will favour North, says Bafarawa

Former governor of Sokoto State and presidential aspirant under the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Alhaji Attahiru Bafarawa, has said he is happy about the clamour for restructuring because it will favour the north.

Former governor of Sokoto State and presidential aspirant under the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Alhaji Attahiru Bafarawa, has said he is happy about the clamour for restructuring because it will favour the north.

A statement from the Media and Publicity Directorate of the Bafarawa Campaign Organisation disclosed that the former governor said this while on a tour of the Southwest, where he felt touched by endorsements from party’s leaders and stakeholders.

Restructuring, he said, is about improvement in education, healthcare, infrastructural development and more, which the north needs more than the south. He, therefore, promised to set up a committee within three months to review reports of past conferences for a blueprint on how to restructure the country. Bafarawa said he was confident Afenifere will ensure that the right leader emerges from the ongoing jostle for presidency.

In Ondo State, the former governor was excited by the reception accorded him at the residence of a prominent Yoruba leader and leader of Afenifere, Pa Reuben Fasoranti in Akure. Bafarawa told Fasoranti and other Afenifere leaders that he came to seek their prayer, advice and blessing. He promised to embark on damage control in the areas of economy, security, education, health and infrastructure development, among others, where the All Progressives Congress (APC)-led government has not fared well.
