In the face of rising cost of living, the Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria (PFN) in conjunction with the Christian Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria (CPFN), has called on President Bola Tinubu to urgently upwardly review the salaries of workers.
They also want the president to address the free fall of the naira.
The National President of PFN, Bishop Francis Wale Oke, who spoke on Thursday on behalf of the body, while addressing newsmen after the CPFN-PFN meeting at the PFN house in Lagos, lamented that prices of petroleum products have gone up, including prices of building materials, cement and prices of foodstuffs despite salaries of workers have not increased.
He said: “But beyond reviewing the salaries of workers, the Federal Government should tackle the economy that is almost collapsing, a situation where one dollar will buy N2,000 is totally unacceptable and something should be done about it.”
A situation where the price of cement is going beyond N10,000, how do block makers survive? How do the people involved in building survive? The Federal Government should do something very urgently and stem the tide of the economic collapse of Nigeria to which we are headed. We are praying and we know that God will help the president and his team with the wisdom to deal with the situation.”
Speaking further, the body urged all the contestants in the past elections to stop fighting and join hands with Tinubu to make the county better.
