Rising Nigerian Hip-Hop Star Dawn Finds Strength in Music
Fast-rising Nigerian hip-hop star, Godspower Jeremiah Egbagbe, professionally known as Dawn, has described music as his greatest source of strength.
The young artiste, who was born and raised in Auchi, Edo State, before moving to Lagos in 2024, where he signed a record deal with SOB Records Inc., disclosed that in some of his lowest moments in life, music was what provided a safe escape route for him.
According to him, even though many young people like him in Nigeria today are faced with numerous challenges that have prevented them from finding true happiness and fulfilling their potential, he has continued to realise his real purpose since he embraced music as a career.
Dawn went further to reveal that he fell in love with music while attending a friend’s recording sessions.
“I won’t be where I am today in life without music,” the young artiste, who released his debut studio single titled ‘Turn Up’ recently, said.
“There have been many challenges along the way. There have been days and times when it seemed like the end had come. But in those low moments, in those troubling times, music is what has provided me with the strength and mental capacity to overcome and triumph.
“Though I am still developing as an artiste, I am working hard every day to use my sound to inspire people, especially the young ones, who may sometimes want to be demoralised by challenges around them.
“Music has a lot of power, and I want to be able to reflect this in every one of my songs so that people around the world can find strength through it just the same way I have done,” he added.
