Rivers assembly hails Wike’s response to COVID-19

The Rivers State House of Assembly has hailed Governor Nyesom Wike's response to the coronavirus pandemic, saying his administration has demonstrated a remarkable capacity to curb the spread of the deadly virus.

The Rivers State House of Assembly has hailed Governor Nyesom Wike’s response to the coronavirus pandemic, saying his administration has demonstrated a remarkable capacity to curb the spread of the deadly virus.

The Speaker of the State House of Assembly, Ikunyi Ibani, in a statement yesterday, assured the commitment of the lawmakers to ensure the continuous safety of the residents.

He, however, urged the people to adhere to all rules and directives of physical distancing and compulsory wearing of face masks to avoid the spread of the ravaging pandemic.

The speaker said, “Wike administration’s response to check the spread of the COVID-19 pandemic in the state was legendary in the provision of isolation centres and palliatives to Rivers people”.

” The lawmakers pledge commitment to ensure quality representation and good governance under the watch of the governor as the Leader of the State”.

The speaker, however, commended the governor for the provision of dividends of democracy to the people through what he described as purposeful leadership.

Ibani described the first year into Governor Wike’s second tenure in office as successful, stressing that the governor had launched the construction of three Flyovers at the same time.
