Rivers State government and the state chapter of All Progressives Congress (APC) have disagreed over Governor Siminalayi Fubara’s performance.

While the state government stated that Fubara’s administration has focused on well enunciated policy thrust that is transforming various sectors of the state economy, the APC alleged that the governor was frittering away state funds in the name of thanksgiving for Supreme Court judgment in the 23 councils and 319 wards .

The governor, however, described the peddlers of the allegation as ‘noise makers’. He stated this when he inaugurated the Governing Councils of three tertiary institutions in the state.

Also, the governor’s Chief Press Secretary, Nelson Chukwudi, yesterday, berated the Caretaker Committee Chairman of APC, Tony Okocha, for feigning ignorance of purposeful projects by the governor in the education sector and others.

Chukwudi said that Okocha could still make suggestions to enrich policy implementation in the state, but rather, he chose to drag the ‘Thanksgiving’ rally organised by residents who are expressing gratitude to God on the Supreme Court victory as a duty.

Chukwudi clarified that Fubara did not spend a dime on the rallies nor expended a kobo on mobilisation of the attendees, stressing that it is only organic support of the people of the state.

Okocha, on his part, queried why the governor feels very unpleasant when unbiased critics advises him on the need for him to work with the legislative arm of government.

“How does it discomfort when a governor is advised to undertake a peer review with colleagues in other states and also think outside the box with a view to being responsive to the immediate clamour of the people he was elected to govern,” Okocha added.

But the Chief Press Secretary argued that Fubara is determined to keep more Rivers youths out of the streets, and take them back into the classrooms.
