Rivers PDP guber candidate lauds Buhari for recognising Wike

Governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Rivers State, Siminalayi Fubara, has described the presidential recognition of Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike, with the Distinguished Award in Infrastructure Delivery as “significantly good omen,” stressing that it is a confirmation of the outstanding leadership of the governor.

Governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Rivers State, Siminalayi Fubara, has described the presidential recognition of Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike, with the Distinguished Award in Infrastructure Delivery as “significantly good omen,” stressing that it is a confirmation of the outstanding leadership of the governor.

Fubara lauded President Muhammadu Buhari for looking beyond party lines to recognise the contributions of Wike in providing quality infrastructure, stressing that despite coming from an opposition party, the award speaks volumes on the visionary leadership that the governor has provided for the state.

Fubara, in a statement signed by his Deputy Media Assistant, Bon Onyedi, said: “It is cheering news to Rivers people for the Federal Government of Nigeria to nominate Gov. Nyesom Ezenwo Wike, CON, for the distinguished Award in Infrastructure Delivery at the forthcoming Nigerian Excellence in Public Service Award billed to hold at the State House Conference Hall, Abuja on October 21, 2022, and to be performed by President Muhammadu Buhari, GCFR.”

MEANWHILE, Buhari, yesterday, conferred the 2022 National Honours on Senator Bassey Albert, representing Akwa Ibom North East in the National Assembly.

Albert, who is the Akwa Ibom Young Progressives Party governorship candidate and Chairman, Senate Committee on Petroleum Resources, was among eight other Akwa Ibom citizens honoured for their contributions to the country’s growth.

The ceremony took place at the International Conference Centre, Abuja.

He was presented with Commander of the Order of the Niger (CON) and honoured alongside Solomon Daniel Etuk, Oku Ibom Ibibio, who got Commander of the Order of the Federal Republic (CFR).

Senator Ita Enang got Officer of the Federal Republic (OFR); Prof. Sylvia Akpan (née Essien), Officer of the Order of the Niger (OON) and Prof. Akaneren Idem Essien, OON.

Also conferred with honours are Dr. Richard Nyong, OON; Benjamin Okoko, Member of the Federal Republic (MFR); Lady Eno Bassey, MFR and Effiong Okon Akwa, MFR.

Some of the recipients present at the event are Jim Ovia, Chairman of Zenith Bank; Herbert Wigwe, Access Bank CEO, and Mike Ozekhome (SAN).
