Rotary Club of Lagos Island celebrates Rotary day of service, conducts free cataract surgeries

Free cataract beneficiaries in Kano
Rotary Club of Lagos Island along with Greeta Ashram Temple and Charity carried out 402 free eye surgery in Kano to help indigent residents, who were unable to afford medical treatment.

President, Rotary Club of Lagos Island, Rotarian Kamlesh Jain, said the project was carried out in line with the Rotary global motto which is service above self.
“Giving back to society has great joy and being Rotarians, we always lead by our action and vision.

“We are committed to providing services to humanity such that inspire millions to join us to serve humanity,” she said.

According to the Chairman of the project, Mr. Manu Lalwani: “We have been conducting eye surgeries in collaboration with the Rotary Club of Lagos Island for the last six years and have carried out up to 5,800 free surgeries.

“We have organised two camps this Rotary year and we plan to have another one in Lagos as we appreciate members and friends of Rotary for their selfless contribution, which include Rotarian Anil Gopwani and all members of the Board of Directors.

“We appreciate the doctors, medical team and volunteers for the marathon surgeries and special care to the needy in the community and for making yearly free eye surgery project a great success,” he said.

Rotarian Hiro Rupchandani described Rotarians worldwide as angels of peace, serving various communities in many ways, adding that Rotarians have executed life-saving and life-changing projects, including cervical cancer vaccination, COVID-19 vaccination and Sakhi project.
