Rotary District 9110 tasks youths on leadership, entrepreneurship
Determined to mentor young people in taking key decisions that will impact their careers, Rotary International, District 9110, recently held a summit for youths, with the theme: ‘Inspiration to grow’.
The over 500 youths across the country were tutored on entrepreneurship, mentorship, networking and leveraging digital skills for their career and business growth.
The District Chair, youth service, Rotn. Uyi Sowobi, said the event was a call to action for youths to take charge of their future and be actively involved in nation building.
She noted that with a youth population of over 65 per cent, there is the urgent need to give attention to young people who have the capacity to effect transformation if properly equipped.
The District Governor, Rotn. Kolawole Sodipo, urged the youths to leverage on their enormous potentials, energy, vibrancy and aspiration to contribute effectively in creating solutions to the problems confronting their community and the nation at large.
He noted that only in doing this would they be distinguished and celebrated.
“For you to be inspired, you need to be educated with a personal determination to walk the talk.
A degree may not be enough to survive in this present age, hence the need for entrepreneurship skills,” he said.
Speakers included CEO, The Knowhouse, Lagos, Olukayode Olusope; chairman of Sustainable Healthcare, Mike Omotosho; Dr. Sunit Deb Roy, chairman and CEO, Communication Network Support Services, Engr. Olugbenga Adebayo; and Secretary General, Nigeria Bar Association, Lagos, Ikechukwu Uwana, among others.
