Rotary Youth Leadership Award (RYLA) 2020 Committee, District 9110, has donated new callipers for two legs to a polio ambassador, Miss Aisha Mohammed.

Rotary Youth Leadership Award (RYLA) 2020 Committee, District 9110, has donated new callipers for two legs to a polio ambassador, Miss Aisha Mohammed.

The District Governor, Bola Oyebade, said the callipers were given to aid her movement.

“This is the first time RYLA committee, apart from their normal planning and executing the programmes of RYLA, would go out of its way to put smiles on the face of someone in need. This is an eye opener and I believe it would continue,” he said.

The Chairman, RYLA 2020 Committee and past assistant governor, Benedict Okhumale, said apart from the gift of the callipers, which cost N400,000, Aishat was also supported with the sum of N30,000 while purchase of equipment for her vocation as a hairdresser was being planned.

“The last pairs of callipers she had got worn out and we are doing this to appreciate her as a polio ambassador who helped us to promote vaccination of children for polio.

“She deserves this, more so as she was abused twice by pretenders, who pretended they wanted to assist her,” he said.

Okhumale said she had been a polio victim from birth with challenges for over two years when the last set of callipers got damaged and became irreparable.

He added that the procurement of the callipers was also in collaboration with Rotary Club of Lagos.

President-nominee, Rotary Club of Amuwo, Goni Zakari, said on discovery of Aishat’s need, he contacted the district governor for assistance.

“We were able to raise over N400,000 to get her callipers. I paid half of the amount and the rest was paid through RYLA account,” he said.

Aisha expressed gratitude for the kindness of Rotary.
