The All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate of Kaduna State, Senator Uba Sani, has empowered underprivileged traders across 23 councils of the state with N20 million.

The lawmaker said his empowerment programme is part of efforts to complement the initiative of the state government, which had already constructed ultra-modern markets, in which traders would have the opportunity to secure 10 per cent equity to own shops in the markets across the state.

Sani, who also joined other party officials in receiving thousands of defectors from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to APC, said: “As a Senator representing Kaduna Central and as Chairman, Banking, Insurance and other Financial Institutions, I facilitated the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) interventions to assist over 12,000 households, as well as Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) with grants/loans to boost their businesses, following the effects of COVID-19 pandemic on the economy.

“My bid for governor of the state received a major boost today as the Arewa Traders Association, in collaboration with the Kaduna State Traders Association from all 23 councils across the state, unanimously declared support for my candidacy, that of our presidential candidate, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu and the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kaduna.”
