In order to reposition some of the state-owned enterprises, enhance their operational efficiency, and contribute effectively to the government’s economic revitalization efforts, Kaduna Governor, Senator Uba Sani, has made new appointments in the state parastatals and companies.
Alhaji Ahmed Shehu Haruna was appointed as Acting Managing Director, Kaduna Markets Development and Management Company; Barrister Naymarie Musa-Akande — Managing Director/CEO, Kaduna Industrial and Finance Company Limited.
Others are Ibrahim Abdulkarim Adamu — Managing Director, Kaduna State Livestock Regulatory Authority, and Ibrahim Yusuf — Managing Director, Kaduna Ranch Development Company Limited.
While congratulating them on their appointments, Governor Sani charged them to be adaptive, innovative, and competitive to effectively serve the citizens of Kaduna State while also contributing to the economy.
Meanwhile, Ahmad Shehu Haruna, the new Acting Managing Director, Kaduna Markets Development and Management Company, is currently the Special Adviser to the Kaduna State Governor on Economic Matters.
He is a financial expert, chartered accountant, and forensic expert who has almost a decade of experience in financial consulting, including working with KPMG professional services, Lagos (one of the top four accounting firms in the world).
Before his appointment as Economic Adviser, Ahmad was an Associate Director at Haruna Yahaya & Co. Chartered Accountants, a member of MGI Worldwide, and head of the Lagos office. He has carried out and led several national and international engagements for public and private sector institutions and companies, including the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) forensic audit ordered by former President Muhammadu Buhari in 2019, Financial Statement Audit of NNPCL subsidiaries (KRPC and PPMC), Nigeria Oil and Gas Audit anchored by Nigeria Extractive Industries Transparency Initiative (NEITI), Financial Statement Audit and Review of DHL Global Forwarding Nigeria Limited, amongst others.
Similarly, Ahmad led the project team that carried out the Financial Consultancy for the Review of ECOWAS Centre for Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency (ECREEE) (a subsidiary of ECOWAS) and the AFDB-funded project in Praia, Cape Verde, in September 2023. Ahmad has also provided support to several private entities in Nigeria.
Ahmad holds a Master in Business Administration (MBA) with specialization in finance and investment from the prestigious Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria. He graduated with Distinction. He also holds another Master’s Degree in Finance (MSc Finance) from the University of Lagos. Ahmad obtained his first degree in Accounting and Finance from Al-Hikmah University, Ilorin, Kwara State. Ahmad is currently doing his PhD in Finance and Business Management at the University of Salford in Manchester, United Kingdom, where he also doubles as an Associate Lecturer in the Salford Business School, taking accounting and finance modules/seminars.
Ahmad is an accomplished professional with membership in several national and international professional bodies across the globe. He is a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria (ICAN), Associate Member of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA), Associate Member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of England and Wales (ICAEW), Associate Member of the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (CIMA UK), Associate Member Chartered Institute of Taxation Nigeria (CITN), and Certified Forensic Accountant of Nigeria (CFAN) issued by ICAN.
Ahmad was also nominated as a Regional Coordinating Committee Member of MGI Worldwide in Nairobi, Kenya, in 2022 to head the Business and Collaboration Committee across the African region. A position he holds till date. MGI Worldwide is one of the world’s oldest networks of independent audit, tax, accounting, and consulting firms. It is a top 20 ranked international accounting network with over 8,000 professionals (accountants, finance and tax experts) in some 400 locations in almost 100 countries around the world.
Besides, Barrister Naymarie Musa-Akande, the new Managing Director/CEO, Kaduna Industrial and Finance Company Limited, is an accomplished legal practitioner, seasoned public servant, and politician. She is the immediate past All Progressives Congress (APC) Woman Leader, Kaduna State.
From March 2020 to August 2021, she was a Special Assistant to the Kaduna State Governor on Legal Matters (KADGIS). She also served as Special Assistant to the Kaduna State Governor on Political Matters (Sept. 2019 – March 2020), and Technical Assistant to the Governor on Legal Matters (June 2018 – April 2019).
Barrister Naymarie Musa-Akande has handled federal cases in Nigeria and the United Kingdom as a legal support/litigation paralegal in several areas of law including but not limited to civil and commercial litigation, corporate transactional, banking and lending, employment and labour law, foreclosures, bankruptcy, workers’ compensation, medical malpractice and premises and product liability, and class action.
She holds the Bachelor of Law (LLB), Barrister at Law (BL), and Master of Science in International Development. She is a Doctoral Student in Leadership and Strategic Studies at the Nigerian Defence Academy (NDA), Kaduna.
Also, Ibrahim AbdulKarim Adamu, the new Managing Director, Kaduna State Livestock Regulatory Authority, is the former Managing Director of Kaduna Markets Development and Management Company. He is a seasoned accountant with decades of experience as a public servant. Born in 1966 in Saminaka, he holds a B.Sc. in Accounting, Master’s Degree in Business Administration, and another Master’s Degree in International Affairs and Diplomacy from Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria. He is a Fellow of the Association of National Accountants of Nigeria (ANAN).
Ibrahim Yusuf, the new Managing Director, Kaduna Ranch Development Company Limited, is a dairy expert with up to 10 years’ experience, covering project management including developing, implementing, and supporting complex infrastructures for fast growing dairy value chains. He developed detailed project timelines and proposed new solutions including structuring and managing an integrated livestock project (a team of 20) which is aimed at addressing the recurrent farmer-herder crises in the North-Central part of Nigeria. In 13 months, he was able to increase the operational efficiency of the project by 80% through development and optimization of several outputs.
Before his appointment as the Managing Director, Kaduna Ranch Development Company Limited, he was a Dairy Technical Consultant with Sahel Consulting Agriculture and Nutrition Ltd. From February 2016 to December 2020, Ibrahim Yusuf was a Livestock Officer, Intersos Humanitarian Organization. He has also consulted for many national and international organizations, including Christian Aid, UK (2015 – 2016) and Whitegate Farms, Keffi, Nigeria.
