Expert says good family system critical to Nigeria’s progress
Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, yesterday, said lack of good parenting was responsible for the violent crimes and criminality in the society.
Sanwo-Olu, who was represented by the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Youth and Social Development, Toyin Oke-Osanyintolu, stated this at the 2023 Lagos Boy Child Initiative seminar on parenting.
Sanwo-Olu said his administration would be firmly committed to the policy of non-discrimination and gender equality.
In her welcome address, the Convener of the initiative, wife of the governor, Dr. Ibijoke Sanwo-Olu, said the essence of the seminar was to enlighten parents on behavioural management of boys, social inclusions, consequences of poor parenting and drug abuse.
Sanwo-Olu said her office had earlier held various activities, which included talent hunt competition for boys, among other varieties.She said the competition was part of the pet project of her office were chosen because boys were believed to be naturally energetic to express themselves.
