Sanwo-Olu, Marwa, Onuoha, others receive Champion Newspaper heroes of the year award

Lagos state Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu; Chairman, Ailes Group, Michael Onuoha, alongside other dignitaries, yesterday, received the Champion Newspaper Heroes of the year 2022 award in Lagos.

Lagos state Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu; Chairman, Ailes Group, Michael Onuoha, alongside other dignitaries, yesterday, received the Champion Newspaper Heroes of the year 2022 award in Lagos.

The forum emphasised the function of the media in fostering social change for the betterment of the Nigerian society.

The recipient were recognised and awarded for their various contributions to the economy and human development as well as for nurturing the wellbeing of citizens and the country.

Editor-in-Chief, The Champion Newspapers, Dr. Nwadiuto Iheakanwa, said, “We believe in the power of storytelling to inspire positive change in our communities. The Heroes Award is one of the ways we showcase the incredible work being done by local heroes who are making a difference.

“The 2022 Heroes Award Retrospect Ceremony is a part of our ongoing commitment to promoting local heroes and inspiring others to make a positive impact in their fields and communities,” She said.

Speaking on the award as the Most Innovative Brand CEO of the Year, Iheakanwa, said the award woulld enhance the business philosophy of the firm.

She said “I am inspired to have been recognized this way and presented with this award acknowledging our modest contributions to the betterment of our society and in improving the business environment. This honor has increased my motivation to work harder and improve the lives of others around me as I have always strived to do,” She said.

Alongside the chairman of Ailes Group, all the recipients were honored for their excellent accomplishments in a variety of categories, including politics, healthcare, education, social impact, environmental sustainability, and community leadership.

Top on the list of the 34 distinguished recipients are; Lagos state Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu was awarded Governor of the Year; Osun state Governor, Ademola Adeleke, (Governor of the Year, Good Governance); Chairman, National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), Mohamed Buba Marwa, as Man of the Year; United Bank for Africa (UBA) Plc (Bank of The Year); MD/CEO, Fidelity Bank Plc, Nneka Onyeali-Ikpe, (Banker of the Year); Afenifere Leader, Chief Ayo Adebanjo, (Life Achievement Award); Nasarawa State Governor, Abdullahi Audu Sule, (Good Corporate Governance &
Integrity in Leadership Award); Governor of Ogun State, Prince Dapo Abiodun (Investment Friendly Governor of the Year); Governor of Benue State, Dr. Samuel Ortom, (Courage in Leadership Award); Governor, Plateau State, Simon Bako Lalong (Governor of the Year on Security); and the Minister of Special Duties and Inter-Governmental Affairs, Senator George Akume (Pillar of Democracy Award).

Other awardees are Dr. Folashade Omotade, Senator Daisy Ehanire Danjuma, Parallex Bank Limited, Heirs Insurance Company Ltd, Mr. Babajide Sipe, Dr. Cyril Onyekwelu Ajagu, Prof. Umar Garba Danbatta, Abraham Otti, Monsurudeen Oloyede Bello, Hon.
