President Bola Tinubu has expressed grief over the death of former Delta State Governor, Dr Emmanuel Eweta Uduaghan, aged 71, describing him as a public servant committed to the development of the state and the service of the nation.
In a condolence message, the President extended his sympathies to Uduaghan’s family, the Delta State Government and the people of the state, recalling the deceased’s contributions to governance and development.
Tinubu noted that Uduaghan served as Commissioner for Health and Secretary to the State Government before being elected governor in 2007. He served two terms, leaving office in 2015.
According to the President, Uduaghan’s administration pursued initiatives aimed at improving infrastructure, healthcare delivery and the overall welfare of the people of Delta State.
He added that the former governor remained active in the state’s political and socio-economic affairs after leaving office, contributing to democratic governance and public service.
“His passing is a great loss to his family, his community, Delta State and the nation at large,” Tinubu said.
The President urged the people of Delta State to draw strength from Uduaghan’s years of service and the relationships he built across the country’s political and social landscape.
“On behalf of my family, the government and the people of Nigeria, I extend my deepest sympathies to his wife, Roli; his children; his cousin, former Governor James Ibori; and friends and political associates whose lives he impacted,” he said.
𝙿𝚛𝚎𝚜𝚒𝚍𝚎𝚗𝚝 Tinubu prayed that God would grant the late governor eternal rest and comfort all those mourning him.
